Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

"What we feel/think about his methods/motives/whatever is of no consequence. He's the Almighty God."
That is only if He exists. And even if He did, why does such a person deserve to be worshipped?
He'd be no more deserving of love or praise than any other dictator.
If Jehovah God of the Bible exists, He is a mass murderer of animals. The biblical flood alone proves that.
Yet the Bible says that God is love? -

“Can you imagine how terrified those dogs would have been? They were trapped in a burning building, then rescued, then transported here in the middle of the night and put into a strange kennel. A lot of them were very nervous and traumatised by the experience."
" Fighting back tears Jane Smith, PR for the dogs home, says: “Every week I would write an adoption newsletter to go out to try to find new homes for the dogs, so I feel like I knew them.
“The fire was in three places. One of the main blocks that was affected was adoption row. This is where dogs go when they are ready to be rehomed.
“A family may have been along adoption row on Thursday afternoon and seen the dog for them, and that dog may no longer be with us. It is so, so sad.”

Gustv, why do you think that JW. Org has a correct answer for every question?
The problem of natural evil isn't discussed on the website.
What do you think on the subject?
Or can you not give an opinion of your own? -

[I've had to sneak onto my parents computer to post this, so don't expect me to reply if you ask anything.]
RUBY- Seeing as you went to such lengths to reply to the 2nd part of what I said, could you please respond to the first part? Here it is again:
Ruby said: "the earth itself gave plenty of early warnings."
I replied: That is a misleading statement. It is of no use for the earth to give such signs, if a civilisation cannot do the following;
detect as many of the signs as necessary, interpret them correctly, and then sound the warning in enough time.
"When the tsunami struck on December 26, 2004, the Indian Ocean had no early warning system to speak of—at least nothing like the Pacific Ocean's array of tide gauges, seismometers, deep ocean sensors, high-tech buoys, and communication systems.
The Pacific system's seismometers happened to detect the Indian Ocean earthquake that created the tsunami.
"We had seismic signals," Charles McCreery said. "But we had no sea-level data to detect or measure the tsunami and no system for disseminating a warning." McCreery is the director of the U.S. government's Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) in Ewa Beach, Hawaii."

HELP needed for a friend, please. Anyone?..
by defender of truth ina friend of mine (who has recently started reading jwn) is having trouble eating and sleeping because, even after having recently woken up to ttatt.. they are still concerned about 'demons, everlasting destruction, and jehovahs disapproval'.. i've tried to encourage them.
i'm sure you all understand that these things can take time, the transition period is often painful, to some extent.
i'm still struggling with anger and depression myself.. i'll be away from jwn, off the internet, and thus out of contact with them for a while (don't ask why)... so please don't expect me to reply to or even look at what you post, .

Apog- I'm sorry for being imprecise.
They have only very recently begun to consider that JW's may not have the truth. They're full of doubts but still have a belief in Jehovah, which is pretty normal for a born-in. Letting go of the Bible and its vengeful God, as well as concerns about 'demons', does not happen overnight.
Thanks for replying, good points.
Dagney- That's very easy to say once you have got past the anxiety and stress, and proved to yourself that Jehovah doesn't exist..
I won't be back for a while. -

" Apparently you said that your friend may read what is written on this board. Do you think that the title of the post: "HELP needed for a friend, please. Anyone?.." would attract them to read it? "
Don't worry, I've given them the link to this thread.
Any informative links or general support would be great. Imagine that you believed that Jehovah may want to kill you. What could someone say or tell you to help get past that fear?
Thanks to everyone who's replied.
Bye for now. -

To be clear, I don't mean they're in a life-threatening situation or anything like that, just struggling with the beliefs mentioned.
All helpful thoughts, wisdom, and threads appreciated. Thanks. -

A friend of mine (who has recently started reading JWN) is having trouble eating and sleeping because, even after having recently woken up to TTATT.. they are still concerned about 'demons, everlasting destruction, and Jehovahs disapproval'.

but my friend will be watching the thread even if they don't decide to post.
HERE IS MY REQUEST:
Can you share either a thread or personal experience that proved to you that the Bible wasn't inspired (contradictions, errors, failed prophesies etc) and that the bible God Jehovah and the demons don't exist, logically?
I know it's not a subject of great interest to many of us atheists perhaps, but you could be helping someone through a very difficult time.
Any experiences of how you got through such hard times when you learned TTATT would be appreciated too.. No sarcasm or evangelists, please.
I've got to go now..
Thank you.
